FAQ

Where is the spa and where do I park?

We are located at 1825 Grant Avenue, on the north side between Centennial St. and Beaverbrook St. Parking in front of the spa on Grant Avenue is available except Monday through Friday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Street parking is available on Centennial St. and Beaverbrook St. with no restrictions.

When should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to account for service preparations, consultation, and to fill out appropriate paperwork. Your time is valuable to us and we would like to make sure you can receive the full White Elm Spa experience!

What if I am late for my appointment?

We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, however, the length of your service may be adjusted or cancelled so as not to interrupt the scheduled services of other guests. Full price of scheduled services will apply, so please plan accordingly.

What is the cancellation policy?

Your treatments are reserved especially for you. We value your business and ask that you respect the spa’s scheduling policies. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

Any cancellation with less than 24 hours of notice is subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notification will be charged in full for the scheduled service.

Can I bring my children to the spa?

White Elm Spa is an adult facility and available to men and women 18 years of age or older. Children 12 and older may receive services provided they are accompanied by an adult.

How do you clean your tools?

We take cleanliness very seriously and we do everything in our power to make sure your experience is as safe and relaxing as possible. We use a regularly tested and serviced autoclave to sterilize our implements and use only single-use buffers and orangewood sticks in your services. At the end of your service, you will receive your used buffer and orangewood stick to take home with you. Any implement that cannot be properly cleaned and sterilized will be disposed of after every client. In order to maintain transparency with our clients, our monthly autoclave results are posted in the spa for you to view.

Are there any health considerations for your treatments?

Every new client is required to fill out a consultation form that will inform us of any contraindications they may have for a specific service. If there are any concerns you have that were not mentioned on the form, please let us know and we will be happy to discuss them with you further.

How much do I tip?

Gratuity is not included in the price of service. Customary tipping runs 15% to 20% but is, of course, at your discretion.

How should I prepare and what should I bring to the service?

Pedicure: Please wear pants that can easily be rolled up to the knee and try to avoid shaving your legs 24 hours before your pedicure to avoid skin irritation. Please also consider bringing a pair of flip flops that easily go between the toes and does not touch any of your toenails to prevent polish from smudging. If you are getting polish, please allow up to 30 minutes for drying time once your service is completed.

Manicure: Please consider leaving rings and jewelry at home or remove them before the service begins and keep them in a safe space. White Elm Spa is not responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced items. Please wear a shirt that can easily be rolled up to the elbows. If you are getting polish, please allow up to 30 minutes for drying time once your service is completed.

Waxing or Sugaring: Please refrain from applying lotion to the area to be waxed or sugared a few hours before your service as it interferes with the product’s ability to properly remove the hair. Growth needs to be at least 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch long (think of a grain of rice!) to be properly removed. Exfoliating a day or two beforehand helps to release ingrown hairs from the skin for easy removal. If you are getting an underarm wax or sugar, consider wearing a tank top to avoid removing articles of clothing.

*Waxing or sugaring services cannot be performed on clients who have been taking or using Accutane or have taken Accutane within the last year, Retin A, other acne medications (topical or oral), bleaching agents, previous chemical depilatories such as Nair, Benzol Peroxide, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, oral or topical antibiotics, Retinol, or a chemical peel in the last 2 weeks to prevent potential lifting of the skin*

Eyelash or eyebrow tinting or eyelash lift: For best results, please remove all eye makeup before your service.
* A patch test must be done 24 hours before service if you have never had tinting done before*

Facial: Please try your best to avoid wearing makeup to your appointment. It is not a problem if you do, we can remove it for you! Please consider leaving your jewelry at home or remove before your appointment and keep in a safe space. White Elm Spa is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced items. Men, please consider shaving the day before your service to avoid skin irritation.
